"Finns are looking up"? I'll end up working for the Sunday Express if I keep writing headlines like that.

Finns are looking up

I've been away this past week, on a whale-watching trip to the Bay of Biscay... rather an unusual holiday it must be said. Three days at sea (plus three hours on Spanish soil!) on a P&O ferry, armed with binoculars while the rest of the passengers get on with whatever people do on mini-cruises. Sadly agorophobia kept me off the highest viewing platform for most of the trip, but I don't think I missed much, and in fact I was privelidged enough to get some very close views of the second largest animal on earth, the mighty Finn whale. Seeing that colossal spume of water, followed by that immense grey back breaking the surface not twenty metres from the boat... must rank as the single most impressive thing I have ever witnessed. Seeing Sunfish floating in the water was almost as exciting, in the way that things you never think you'll see generally are. Also got a couple of species of Dolphin, which are always fun, although the bird count was disappointing. Arrived on dry land to find the new GBV album had arrived, so I'll be writing a bit about that once I've had the chance to properly acquaint myself with it.

In other news, I'm feeling incredibly proud of Everton at the moment... the performance against Man City yesterday could not have been further removed from the sorry display in the corresponding fixture last season. I'll spare you my views on referee Steve Bennett for the time being though... bah. Keep this up, and we won't even need United's dirty money to save us... although I guess it'll still come in handy.
